Ann Curry became rich as a television news journalist. She is married to software executive, Brian Ross.
She began her broadcasting career in 1978 as an intern at then NBC-affiliate KTVL in Oregon. There she moved up to become the station’s first female news reporter. In 1980, Curry joined KGW in Portland, Oregon as an anchor and reporter.
She then he joined KCBS-TV in Los Angeles as a reporter from 1984 to 1990. While there, she received two Emmy Awards.
Curry first joined NBC News in 1990 as a Chicago-based correspondent. In 1992 she was named anchor of “NBC News at Sunrise.” In 1997, she began to serve as a substitute news anchor for Matt Lauer atThe Today Show. She was a co-anchor of Dateline NBC with Stone Phillips from 2005 to 2011.
In 2011, Ann Curry replaced Meredith Viera as a full-time anchor on the Today show. However, things did not work out between Curry and Matt Lauer on the show. There are now plans to remove her from the show. The switch is aimed at protecting NBC’s lead in viewers after “Good Morning America” topped “Today” in weekly Nielsen audience ratings in April, 2012 for the first time in 16 years.
