Bridges made his first screen appearance in 1951′sĀ The Company She Keeps when he was four months old. As a child he appeared in the shows Sea Hunt and The Lloyd Bridges Show. His first major role came in the 1971 drama film The Last Picture Show, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. He received his second Academy Award nomination for his performance in the 1974 crime film Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, starring Clint Eastwood. In 1976, he starred in the commercially success film King Kong.
Bridges went on to have an greatĀ career starring in popular films such as Fearless (1993), The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989), and Iron Man (2008). He also earned an Academy Award nomination for his roles in Starman (1984), Tucker (1988), The Contender (2000), Crazy Heart (2009), and True Grit (2010).
