Michael Douglas began his film career in the late 1960′s and early 1970′s, appearing in little known films like Hail, Hero! (1969) and Adam at Six A.M (1970). He gained fame starring in the television police show Streets of San Francisco from 1972 to 1976. He won his first Oscar as a producer of 1975′s Best Picture, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
Then his film career took off when he produced and starred in The China Syndrome (1979) and Romancing the Stone (1984), with Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito. Douglas also produced and starred in Romancing the Stone‘s sequel, The Jewel of the Nile (1985).
In 1987, he starred in the thriller Fatal Attraction, opposite Glenn Close, and Wall Street, which for which he received an his second Academy Award. In 2010, he starred in the sequel to Wall Street (1987), Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, with Shia LaBeouf.
Douglas again teamed with Danny DeVito and Kathleen Turner for the comedy film The War of the Roses (1989).
In the 1990′s, Michael appeared in a several popular films including Falling Down (1993) and The Ghost and the Darkness (1996).
In 2000, Douglas starred in the crime drama film Traffic, opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones and Benicio del Toro. That same year, he starred in Wonder Boys. His performance in the movie earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

Divorce settlement
Michael and his ex-wife, Diandra were married for 23 years. They divorced in 2000. She received a $45 million divorce settlement as well as rights to half Douglas’ earnings from the “spinoffs” of his completed movie work.
