Morgan Freeman first credited film appearance was in Who Says I Can’t Ride a Rainbow (1971). After that, he appeared in television shows, such as the PBS kids’ show The Electric Company, the soap opera Another World, Texas, and Ryan’s Hope.
In 1987, Freeman got a career boost when he appeared in the film Street Smart. His role in the movie earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Two years later, Morgan an earned more acclaim—a Golden Glove Award and a second Oscar nomination— for his role in Driving Miss Daisy (1989).
